Three local baseball players selected for East-West All Star Game

DETROIT – Jacob Morrison and Drew Trevino of Flushing and David Lally of Grand Blanc were each selected to the West team in the MHSAA Coaches Association East-West All Star game, which took place June 20 at Comerica Detroit Park.

Trevino pitched in the second inning and had a 1-2-3 inning including one strikeout, while Lally pitched an inning in the game and struck out two batters. Morrison, who plays in a summer league, was unable to play in the All-Star Game.

Morrison, who will play his college ball at Coastal Carolina, was a 1st-team all-league and 1st-team all-district (first base) pitcher in Flushing. He recorded a 0.60 ERA with a 2-1 record and 47 strikeouts in 23.1 innings pitched. At plate, he hit .337 with a home run, 23 RBIs and 31 hits in 92 at-bats.

Trevino, a 2nd team all-league and 1st team all-district pitcher for Flushing, went 7-2 this season with a 2.73 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 43.2 innings started. He hit .202 with a home run, 17 hits and 15 RBIs in 84 plate appearances.

Trevino also played in the Black/Gold All Star Game at Mott. He will play collegiately at Ball State.

Lally, who committed to Notre Dame, went 9-1 for the Big White this season with a 0.42 ERA in 50 innings to go with 90 strikeouts. He also hit .430 with seven homers.

Lally was 1st Team All American, 1st Team All-State, All State Dream Team, SVL Player of the Year and Flint Area Mr. Baseball. –BG
